This article outlines the minimum and recommended requirements for Tech Academy students. This is a breakdown of the minimum criteria needed for enrollment and the recommended standards for accessing learning materials.
By providing clear guidance on hardware, software, and foundational knowledge, we aim to equip students with the necessary resources to thrive in their educational journey at Tech Academy.
Recommended Hardware
Screen dimensions: 1920px x 1080px or higher (full HD or higher)
Processor speed: 2Ghz / multi-core
Broadband / Internet access requirements: 5 MB download, 1 MB upload (per user)
Required Hardware for Virtual Students
A webcam or HD webcam – built-in or USB plug-in – minimum 640x480 resolution
Speakers or audio headset – built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth audio
Microphone – built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth audio
Operating System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 10 or higher (latest releases are recommended)
Apple macOS 12 or higher (latest releases are recommended)
Other major operating systems, such as Linux or ChromeOS, may be partially operable, but may not allow full functionality or may not provide the best performance of materials.
Browser Requirements
Chrome 29 or higher
Firefox 52 or higher
JavaScript must be enabled. Third-party cookies must be enabled. Other major browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, or Vivaldi may be partially operable, but may not allow full functionality or may not provide the best performance of materials.
Network Requirements
Minimum network requirements for functionality are as follows:
HTTPS Access (Port 443)
Minimum for accessing modules and labs: Bandwidth minimum of 2 MB per second
ITPro content viewing requirements: Bandwidth minimum of 5 MB per second
An ideal bandwidth of 8+ MB per second will allow for better performance and functionality.
Certification Exam System Requirements
Tech Academy students must thoroughly review and comprehend the system and technical requirements outlined by certifying vendors to ensure successful completion of the certification exam. Failing to meet the system requirements will impede a student’s ability to take the exam and obtain certification.
