End-Course Assessment Overview:

End-course assessments are administered on the last day of class to students who have achieved a minimum of 80% attendance. Cameras are required throughout the entire assessment. This assessment is open-book and open-note.

Students have two in-class attempts to pass the end-course assessment with a minimum score of 70%. Failure to pass with a minimum score of 70% will result in not passing the class and not being able to continue in the program.

End-Course Assessment Retake Process:

Any student who fails both in-class attempts or who is absent on the last day of class will be required to meet with an Instructor/Mentor by no later than the following Wednesday.

While ACI Learning will communicate with all students in need of scheduling an end-course retake, it is the student’s responsibility to schedule and complete the end-course retake appointment by the designated deadline. Failure to complete this process will result in all non-compliant students being dropped from their program at ACI Learning.

End-Course Assessment Retake Appointment:

As a reminder, these appointments are mandatory for all students needing to retake their end-course assessment. These sessions run for 55 minutes to allow time for concept review and assessment retake.

Depending on the length of time needed for review, subsequent sessions may be needed to facilitate the assessment proctoring component. Please keep this in mind when scheduling the end-course retake appointment.

To schedule an end-course assessment retake appointment with an Instructor/Mentor, please consult our scheduling page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: My end-course assessment shell did not populate on the last day of class. What happened?

A: As a reminder, end-course assessments are administered on the last day of class to students who have achieved a minimum of 80% attendance. If the end-course shell did not populate, it is likely that this pre-requisite was not achieved.

If you feel like there is a discrepancy with your attendance, please let your Instructor and the Support team know as soon as possible. Support can be contacted via the chat bubble in the Learning Portal.

Q: I passed my end-course assessment on the last day of class. Do I need to meet with an Instructor/Mentor?

A: No. Students who pass their end-course assessment on the last day of class are not required to meet with an Instructor/Mentor. These meetings are reserved for students who fail both in-class attempts and who need to pass to continue in their program at ACI Learning.

Q: If I was absent on the last day of class, does that mean I get four attempts to complete the end-course assessment?

A: No. Unfortunately, students who are absent on the last day of class forfeit their in-class attempts. Therefore, students would only be eligible for two attempts upon meeting with an Instructor/Mentor. The only exception to this rule is if the absence receives approval due to mitigating circumstances.

Q: I was present for the last day of class but opted to not take the end-course assessment. Does this mean I get four attempts to complete the end-course assessment?

A: No. Unfortunately, students who opt not to complete the end-course assessment on the last day of class forfeit their in-class attempts. Therefore, students would only be eligible for two attempts upon meeting with an Instructor/Mentor.

Q: Why are the end-course retake appointments longer than other meetings I can schedule with an Instructor/Mentor?

A: These appointments are longer because they are comprised of two components: review and assessment proctoring. Please keep this in mind when scheduling a retake, as these sessions cannot be cut short.

Depending on the length of time needed for review, subsequent sessions may be needed to facilitate the assessment proctoring component. Please keep this in mind when scheduling the end-course retake appointment.

Q: I am not seeing any available meeting times when I click on the scheduling link, but still need to complete this requirement before the Wednesday deadline. What should I do?

A: End-course assessment retake meetings are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As such, waiting until the Wednesday deadline can create issues with scheduling. We encourage all students to schedule via the scheduling page as soon as possible to avoid availability issues.

In instances where no individual appointment slots are available, students in need of an end-course retake will be routed to attend Open Mentoring Session. Below is a table that breaks down the weekly schedule for Open Mentoring Sessions. As a reminder, these sessions do not require an upfront appointment and can be joined at any point during the session availability.

Please keep in mind that joining a session late may result in support not being able to be fully rendered. As a best practice, we recommend that students join these sessions with at least 90 minutes to spare. This is especially important when completing end-course retake, as these meetings require a minimum of 55 minutes to complete.

Q: I have circumstances that prevent me from completing the end-course assessment retake by the Wednesday deadline. What should I do?

A: On a case-by-case basis, extensions may be granted for students with mitigating circumstances to complete the end-course assessment retake. These extension approvals are based on the nature of the circumstances and require review and determination from our academic progress team.

Students who are aware of the inability to complete the end-course assessment retake by the following Wednesday deadline should notify ACI Learning Support as soon as possible. Support can be contacted via the chat bubble in the Learning Portal. Failure to notify the team of availability conflicts timely can result in extensions not being approved.

Q: I failed both in-class attempts and did not pass when I met with an Instructor/Mentor. What happens now?

A: In instances where students are not successful in passing the end-course assessment, ACI Learning will move forward with program removal due to failure to achieve academic standards.

This does not mean that a student’s academic journey with ACI Learning needs to end. As for the next steps, students will need to evaluate whether they would like to re-enter their program. Depending on the funding source, alternate funding may need to be obtained or additional funding approvals may need to be granted prior to being rescheduled for classes. Please note that funding is not a guarantee.

Q: Will I still keep my exam voucher if I did not pass the End-Course Assessment?

A. Your exam voucher approval is based on the successful completion of your course. If you do not pass the End-Course Assessment, then the course is incomplete. Therefore, you will not retain your exam voucher.

If you have questions regarding this process, please contact Support via the chat bubble within the learning portal.
